I believe in creating a community of learning in my classroom and having my students feel that each of them are as important to that community as the others. In order to do this I want my students to become very familiar with each other. The first 45 minutes of my first class will be filled with activities that allow for the students to get to know each other better also while allowing me to get to know them too. The silhouette activity I feel will allow students to present to the class what makes them who they are and promotes individuality in the class. This also will let the students that individuality is encouraged and accepted in my classroom. These activities will hopefully bring my classroom closer together and let the students know that learning not only a solo journey but a journey that takes everyone involved.
